# Pig 2027: Three Harmony Is Real, and One Piece Is Missing

2027 brings the Goat and a Pig brings the opening. Three pieces close the set; this year supplies two. Nine birth years, ages, and the claims that do not hold.

## The short answer

2027 is a Goat year, and if you were born in a Pig year you will keep meeting one sentence: three harmony, a good year.

Half of that is true. The Pig, the Rabbit and the Goat form one set. 2027 brings the Goat. You bring the Pig. The Rabbit is not in it.

The three do not sit in the same relation to each other. The Pig opens the set, the Goat closes it, and the middle position, the strongest of the three, stays empty this year. So the accurate sentence is shorter than the popular one: you and 2027 are related, and the set is not closed.

Nine Pig years still have living people in them: 1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007 and 2019. The youngest turns eight in 2027. The oldest turns a hundred and four.

## Three animals make a set, and one alone is only a relation

Traditional tables put the Pig, the Rabbit and the Goat on one line: Pig at the opening, Rabbit at the peak, Goat at the close.

Those three labels are not an ordering. The opening is where the element starts to grow. The peak is where it is at full strength. The close is where it is gathered and stored away. The classical names are 长生, 帝旺 and 墓; opening, peak and close will do for reading this page.

All three together close the line. One of them on its own gives you a relation with the year, not a set.

2027 is a Goat year, so the closing position is what arrives. A Pig year gives you the opening one. The middle position, the strongest, is what this year does not bring.

That is why two sentences circulate at the same time. One says the relation exists. The other says the set is incomplete. They are not contradicting each other; they answer different questions.

## What is missing for a Pig is not what is missing for a Rabbit

Both animals are one short. They are short in different places.

Someone born in a Rabbit year carries the peak. 2027 brings the close. What the set lacks is the opening.

Someone born in a Pig year carries the opening. 2027 brings the close. What the set lacks is the peak.

The classical tables keep two names for that difference. A set missing its middle is 拱合, an arch. A set missing one end is 半合, a half frame. The names are not worth memorising. What is worth keeping is that a Pig's gap and a Rabbit's gap are not the same gap, which means the three harmony a Pig reads about and the one a Rabbit reads about do not carry the same content.

The other gap is worked through on its own page: [Rabbit 2027](/blog/rabbit-2027).

## Whether the set closes is one check: is there a Rabbit in your chart

Everything above is about your whole chart, not about the year animal on its own.

A chart has four pillars, year, month, day and hour, and each pillar carries one branch. The zodiac sign you were born under names exactly one of them, the year branch. Whether your own set closes depends on whether any of the other three carries 卯, the Rabbit.

If one does, Pig, Rabbit and Goat are all present and 2027 closes the line for you. If none does, the sentence stays as it was: related, not closed.

This is checkable. Cast a chart once and the four branches are listed one by one; look for 卯. [Cast a chart](/chart) is free and you can read the date part before you supply a birth time.

One aside: do not read compatibility off shared characters. Break each animal into the characters it contains and a Rat shares none with a Goat, exactly as a Pig does. Of those two pairs, one is a harm relation and the other is a harmony.

## Three claims about 2027, and two of them are wrong

The first: a Pig in 2027 has three harmony, so it is a good year. Half right. The harmony is real, but it runs between you and the year, and the strongest member of the set is absent.

The second: a Pig clashes with the year god in 2027. Wrong. Four animals are in that relation in 2027. The Goat takes the year, the Ox clashes and is punished, the Dog is punished and broken, the Rat is harmed. The Pig is not on the list.

The third: a Pig should make offerings to the year god, light a lamp or tie a red thread. Wrong, for the same reason. The list has four animals on it and the Pig is not one of them, so a temple will not perform the ritual for you. The money can stay where it is.

The three claims turn up on the same page more often than not, because they get copied from one another. When you meet them, hold on to one fact: the list has four animals on it, and the Pig is not on it. The year god of 2027 is the Goat, and [the 2027 year god page](/blog/tai-sui-2027) lists all four.

## You may not be a Pig at all

Two conventions decide which day the year animal changes, and both are in use. The national standard, GB/T 33661, follows the first day of the first lunar month. Chart casting follows the start of spring, 立春. In most years the two fall days or weeks apart.

Among the nine Pig years the narrowest gap is 2019. The start of spring fell at 11:14 on 4 February, and the first day of the lunar month was 5 February. Someone born inside those twelve hours and forty-six minutes is a Pig on a cast chart and a Dog on a birth certificate.

The widest gap is 1947. The lunar month turned on 22 January and the start of spring waited until late on 4 February, close to fourteen days later.

Both conventions are in use and neither is the real first day. This page does not pick one for you; it puts the two lines side by side.

The year by year comparison is on [a separate page](/blog/chinese-zodiac-year-boundary-dates), which runs from 1940 to 2030 one row a year and marks which line comes first.

## Nine Pig birth years, and the age each one reaches in 2027

Ages are counted as reached during 2027, so a birthday still ahead means one year less. The stem and branch pair repeats every sixty years, which is why 1923 and 1983 are both 癸亥.

| Birth year | Year pillar | Turns in 2027 |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 1923 | 癸亥 | 104 |
| 1935 | 乙亥 | 92 |
| 1947 | 丁亥 | 80 |
| 1959 | 己亥 | 68 |
| 1971 | 辛亥 | 56 |
| 1983 | 癸亥 | 44 |
| 1995 | 乙亥 | 32 |
| 2007 | 丁亥 | 20 |
| 2019 | 己亥 | 8 |

Every row shares the branch 亥, so 2027 stands in the same relation to all nine. The year pillar is one of four, though, and the other three differ from person to person.

## What this can say and what it cannot

This page covers how three animals are arranged, which piece is missing, and which of the claims going around do not hold. It does not say what will happen to you during the year.

In the classical vocabulary a harmony describes a relation between two branches, not an outcome. A closed set does not mean a good year and an open one does not mean a bad one. Reading a person takes all four pillars, plus the decade cycles that carry them. One animal cannot support that.

So none of these sentences appear anywhere above: a Pig will lose money in 2027, a Pig will be slandered, a Pig will find a patron, a Pig should watch their stomach. Those are predictions, and this site does not make them. [The editorial policy](/editorial-policy) says the same, which is why the dates and times above carry a source.

What you get instead is a check: which animal you are, whether a Rabbit is in your chart, and whether your name is on the list of four.

## Key points

- The Pig, the Rabbit and the Goat form one set, and 2027 supplies only the Goat.
- A Pig carries the opening, so what the set lacks in 2027 is the middle position, the strongest one.
- Four animals meet the 2027 year god and the Pig is not among them, so no offering is owed.
- Nine Pig birth years still have living people, 1923 to 2019, from 104 down to 8 in 2027.
- Two conventions set the year boundary, and in 2019 they sat 12 hours 46 minutes apart.
