要点(約30秒)

  • Two of the Metal answers — the animal and the Nayin — both read the year pillar, so they are one witness, not two.
  • The chart holds all five elements: two Wood, two Earth, two Metal, one Fire, one Water.
  • 2026 is 丙午, so it is neither his zodiac year nor a clash with his 亥; the real contact is with his month branch.
  • The two circulating birth times sit on opposite sides of the 07:00 pillar boundary, so the uncertainty is a whole column.
  • Matching his record to his cycles after the fact is description, not validation.

The five, in one paragraph

Five sentences circulate about Elon Musk's chart. He is a Metal person. His chart is missing an element. 2026 is his zodiac year. He was born at 07:30. His record confirms the method.

The first four are arithmetic, and the fifth is logic. Each correction is short. What makes them worth writing down is that the first two are really one error: a single pillar looked up in two tables, then reported as two independent witnesses.

Two Metals, one pillar

Start with the question people ask first, because it has three answers.

The animal says Metal Pig: the year stem 辛 is yin Metal. The Nayin reading says 钗钏金, hairpin metal: the year pillar 辛亥 carries that name in the sixty-cycle table. The Day Master says 甲, yang Wood, because in the 子平 method the day stem is the subject and everything else is read against it.

The first two are the same witness. Both read the year pillar and use nothing else. Saying Metal twice does not make Metal twice as likely — it means one input was passed through two tables. The Nayin table names each **pair** of consecutive years, so 钗钏金 covers everyone born in 1970 and 1971 alike: two full years, one label.

Wood is the outlier for a reason: it is the only answer that reads the day column. That is also why the animal and the chart disagree so often without either of them being wrong.

The element count has no gap

Another line that gets repeated: his chart is missing an element, or is short of one, and that explains something.

Count the eight characters. 辛 and 申 are Metal. 亥 is Water. 甲 and 甲 are Wood. 午 is Fire. 戊 and 辰 are Earth. Two Wood, two Metal, two Earth, one Fire, one Water — all five present, eight characters accounted for. There is no gap to fill.

The second half of that claim is a different mistake. 'Find the missing element and add it' is not what the 子平 method does. It reads the day stem against the month branch and asks how much support the stem is getting, so a chart with all five elements can still be under-supported, and a chart with one absent can read perfectly well. The five elements overview covers the relations; the sixty-cell table shows why 1971 starts from Metal at all.

2026 is not his zodiac year

Every year produces a round of 'his zodiac year' posts for anyone famous. For Musk the arithmetic does not support it.

A 本命年 is the year whose branch repeats the branch of the birth year. His year branch is 亥, the Pig. 2026 is 丙午, a Horse year. A Pig is not a Horse.

The clash test fails the same way. Branches clash with the one six places away: 子午, 丑未, 寅申, 卯酉, 辰戌, 巳亥. 亥 clashes with 巳. 午 does not touch it.

What does touch him is quieter. His month branch is 午, and a 午 year repeats it. The technical name is 伏吟, the same branch arriving again; some schools add 午午自刑 on top. Either way it is a repetition, not a clash. This page stops there, because saying what it means for his year would be a prediction, and this site does not make them.

Between 07:30 and 06:30 sits a whole pillar

Two birth times circulate for Musk, an hour apart. Retellings usually pick one, print it, and move on. The interesting part is what the gap costs.

07:00 is the boundary between 卯 and 辰. 07:30 falls in 辰; 06:30 falls in 卯. Different branch, and because the hour stem is derived from the day stem, a different stem too. An hour of uncertainty is not a rounding error here — it is one of the four columns, gone.

True solar time does not settle it. Pretoria sits about 1.8 degrees west of the 30°E meridian its clocks run on, which pulls local sun time back by roughly seven minutes, and the time of year adds a few more. Seven minutes does not carry 07:30 back across 07:00, and it does not carry 06:30 across either. Two readings stay two.

The chart article records where each time comes from and what the two hour pillars look like. This page makes the narrower point: a sentence that states his hour pillar as settled is stating more than the source material carries.

The record is not a validation

The fifth claim is the one that sounds most like evidence: look at 2008, look at 2020, the cycles line up.

They can be lined up. That is the problem. One cycle covers ten years, and any decade of a public career contains something that can be matched to it afterwards. Read backwards, the match rate approaches one for anyone, in any system.

Validation needs the other direction: a specific claim made before the fact that could have failed. Why a chart gives a range sets out the longer version. The table in the chart article that places events beside cycles is labelled a reading and not a proof, for the same reason.

Thirty, sixty, five hundred thousand

Put the three labels beside what each one can distinguish.

LabelBuilt fromHow many versions exist
钗钏金, hairpin metalyear pillar, Nayin table30
Metal Pigyear pillar, stem and branch60
Four pillarsyear, month, day, hourabout 518,400

Thirty labels cannot describe a person, and neither can sixty. The four-pillar figure is not mystical either; it is the size of the space the method works in. That size is the reason the day stem, the month branch and the hour are each asked a separate question instead of one of them being asked everything.

The corrections end there. Calling him Metal is not a lie — it is a thirty-way label doing a 518,400-way job. The two Metals were never corroboration, because they came from the same column. And 2026 is a Horse year, which for a Pig is neither his own year nor a clash. None of this tells you what he is like. It only stops a few sentences from being repeated that should not be.
