Hexagram 16
Enthusiasm
Thunder over Earth
The judgment
Thunder breaks out of the earth and the whole field moves with it. Energy like this is easy to raise and hard to aim.
The image
Thunder comes up through the ground before anything is announced. What was prepared in advance moves without being pushed.
The six lines
Read from the bottom up. A line that moves is read here, and read again in the hexagram it becomes.
Line 1
Making noise about a first surge before the footing is set burns the retreat path itself.

Line 2
Firm as stone, unmoved by whatever shifts around it; before the day is out, what must stop is already plain.

Line 3
Looking up for someone's approval; the longer it drags, the thinner the room to turn back.
Marked in the textregret
Line 4
The weight lands here, and the others only move because it holds; the yield is large. Suspicion alone scatters them — one pin gathers loose hair into a single bundle, and people gather the same way.
Line 5
A chronic drag that never breaks you; days move forward while carrying the ailment.
Line 6
The pleasure has gone so deep that no one wants to wake. The thing is already formed, yet it can still be changed; change this one point and nothing is held against it.
Marked in the textno blame
