Hexagram 61
Inner Truth
Wind over Lake
The judgment
Wind over the lake reaches the water and the hollow in the middle carries the sound. Trust here is built from what can be checked, and a claim that cannot be tested is just weather.
The image
Wind crosses the lake and the water answers from inside the hollow. What is honest makes a sound that matches its shape.
The six lines
Read from the bottom up. A line that moves is read here, and read again in the hexagram it becomes.
Line 1
At the start, weigh what is actually in hand; looking elsewhere unsettles the footing.
Marked in the textauspicious
Line 2
Those on the same wavelength answer on their own; share the good portion and the resonance holds.
Line 3
Meeting a counterpart of equal strength: the drum starts and then stops, now beating, now calling the troops back; tears are not yet dry when singing begins. Neither advancing nor withdrawing works, and everything stalls at this one step.
Line 4
Past the full moon, letting the paired half go leaves the position lighter rather than diminished.
Marked in the textno blame
Line 5
At the center, trust twisted into one cord draws more people in, and the weight gathers on you.
Marked in the textno blame
Line 6
A call pitched too high reaches the sky with nothing solid beneath, and wears thin by the end.
Marked in the textominous
