The judgment

Wind is trapped under the mountain and what was stored has spoiled. Repair starts by naming what went bad, and it costs more than the neglect did.

The image

Wind sits inside the mountain with nowhere to go. What is sealed and left alone rots from the inside.

The six lines

Read from the bottom up. A line that moves is read here, and read again in the hexagram it becomes.

  1. 初六Line 1

Taking over a mess left by those before, feel out how the old affairs came about before moving. A son able to carry the family's work lets the father's fault be settled, not left hanging. The start is like walking on thin ice; only at the end does it turn to safety.

    Marked in the textno blamedangerauspicious

  2. 九二Line 2

Tending decay among those close to you, work around it gently; forcing a firm verdict only jams things.

  3. 九三Line 3

Halfway through fixing an old problem, retreat feels wrong and pushing meets a wall; move on carrying the regret.

    Marked in the textregret

  4. 六四Line 4

Letting that old ailment sit unattended, the path narrows the longer it waits.

    Marked in the textnarrow going

  5. 六五Line 5

At the lead position, clearing what predecessors left; do it cleanly and recognition settles on the work itself.

  6. 上九Line 6

The matter is closed; step back from new obligations and give attention to what you hold worthwhile.
