Hexagram 13
Fellowship
Heaven over Fire
The judgment
Fellowship works in the open field and narrows in the courtyard. Gather people around a shared task, and leave room at the edge of the circle.
The image
Fire rises toward heaven and both burn in the same direction. Agreement is a shared direction; a shared mood burns out by morning.
The six lines
Read from the bottom up. A line that moves is read here, and read again in the hexagram it becomes.
Line 1
Barely started, opening the door to anyone outside; strength is thin, but the early opening leaves room later.
Marked in the textno blame
Line 2
Partnering only inside a tight familiar circle narrows the road; a centered place is spent on closeness.

Line 3
Troops hidden in the brush, then climbing the ridge to peer out: stuck between advance and retreat, and the halt runs long.
Line 4
Close to the seat of power but halting on the wall, not attacking; pulling back is what frees the room to move.

Line 5
Crying out first, laughing after: two parties finally meet on the road, and feeling runs ahead of the meeting.
Line 6
Fellowship only out in the open beyond the walls; company thins, and looking back leaves little to regret.
